Batik is an ancient art form. That is the art of coloring fabric by preventing the entry of a color-pore cloth by coating with wax (malam, in Javanese). Wax is patterned in various shades. Colors used in batik can vary, depending on your taste, batik maker or buyer.
Some historical evidence suggests that this culture has been used since several centuries BC, in the era of Ancient Egypt.
Batik (pronounced 'Ba-Teak') is a technique used to dye fabrics. Batik making is a relatively straightforward and produced a beautiful results.
In Javanese, batik-making is generally done on cloth named mori, plain unbleach cloth. Using of this type of fabric to make cloth very comfortable to wear because it feels soft on the skin. There are two ways in batik making, batik tulis and printed batik.
To make batik tulis takes a long time. Since the manufacturing is done manually. Fabrics that have been prepared (already 'kemplong'ed) will be given a pattern by using a pencil. Then the pattern is overwritten with the wax. Wax is drawn by using an instrument called a canting. After the wax dried, then do the next stage of staining and drying.
Each person can make batik, but the results are highly dependent on the ability of each individual. They can add to their skills, especially in making designs and creates beautiful color blend.
